Barbora Jankovičová: Reflections on GYSS2025

Barbora Jankovičová (Hrnčířová) is a gifted biologist specialising in microbial bioengineering at MUNI SCI, where she explores ways to convert waste plant biomass into valuable chemicals. A member of the MUNI Mendel Doctorandus (MMD) programme and a Forbes 30 Under 30 awardee, she is among the most promising young scientists in her field. Recently, she attended the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS2025) in Singapore, where top early-career researchers met with Nobel laureates to exchange ideas. First Phase of a Gender Equality Re-Audit at SCI MUNI: Individual and Group Interviews Successfully Conducted

In May 2024, we launched an analytical phase of the project "Introducing a Flexible Working Culture and a Support System for Parents on Maternity and Parental Leave into the Working Environment of the MU Faculty of Science" as part of the Employment Plus Operational Programme (OPZ+). This phase includes a gender equality audit, featuring structured individual and group interviews with our employees, led by an auditor.

We are working together to develop a personnel strategy for the Horizon Europe project in plasma physics: COLOSSE

The HR Award team at SCI MUNI is contributing to the development of a personnel strategy for the research centers of three partner institutions as part of the Central European Platform for Plasma-enabled Surface Engineering (COLOSSE) project. This project connects Masaryk University (Ceplant center), the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, and Comenius University in Bratislava. The aim of the personnel strategy being developed is to support international recruitment, onboarding, and development of researchers in accordance with the European Charter and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.

CZARMA & Euraxess Workshop to Renew the HR Excellence in Research Award

In March 2024, a workshop on Renewal the HR Excellence in Research Award was held in Prague at the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The Czech Association of Managers and Administrators in Research (Czarma) organised the workshop in cooperation with Euraxess CR. Sixty participants from more than thirty Czech and Slovak institutions signed up for it. The main speakers were EC Assessors Isabelle Halleux and Barbora Wahlová. Tomáš Mozga, Vice-chair and representative of the HR section of CZARMA moderated the entire event.

Years 2023 and 2024 with HR Excellence in Research Award SCI MUNI: Priorities and Award Renewal

In the past year 2023, we completed multiple planned tasks of the HRS4R action plan of the Faculty of Science MU. For example, we focused on the new training concept and its transfer to the practical life of the faculty, digitization of Onboarding, information security, and, last but not least, we started preparations for the Renewal of the HR Excellence in Research Award, where we gathered opinions and suggestions on topics of the new action plan in a questionnaire survey.
