Solution analysis of solid materials often brings very tedious decomposition and transfer of samples into solution. Such decompositions are usually time consuming, harmful to the environment, expensive and prone to contamination by other chemicals. Potential of laser ablation with atomic emission spectrometry in elemental analysis of solid is being investigated for a wide range of materials. Its wide usage is often prevented by lack of reference materials and difficult calibration. The aim of this project is to study the interaction of laser radiation with solid materials and to develop appropriate methods for direct analysis of solid materials. For these purposes direct spectrometry of laser microplasma (LIBS - Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy) and laser ablation with inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (LA - ICP - AES) will be used.
