Prof. RNDr. Vladimír Šimek, CSc., worked at the Department of Comparative Physiology and General Zoology at the Faculty of Science, MUNI, from 1964, and after 1990, he revitalized the research in mammalian physiology. He led the newly established department until 2005. He was the guarantor of the field and was extensively involved in teaching as well. He had to address many long-standing organizational problems inherited from the past, such as the challenging spatial situation and the fragmentation of the workplace, which today, as the Section of Animal Physiology and Immunology at the Department of Experimental Biology SCI MUNI, is fully consolidated and successful. This department uniquely combines animal physiology with immunology and developmental biology, which is unique in our country. Professor Šimek made a significant contribution to this excellent state.

The farewell ceremony for the deceased will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10:15 AM in the large ceremonial hall of the Brno crematorium.
