The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Vladimír Balaš, and the Deputy of the Higher Education, Science and Research Section, Radka Wildová, have presented a series of awards to outstanding scientists, educators and students. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports presented awards to 18 laureates in five categories. Dominik Hrebík, a graduate of our faculty, received the Medal of the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports for ‘outstanding students and graduates in a study program and an extraordinary deeds by students’. Congratulations!
“I am very happy that we can honour excellent students and the educational and research activities of academic staff in this way and highlight exceptional, motivated and talented personalities from the university and scientific and research environment. This country and its future depend above all on creativity and motivation, on the ability to create added value and a willingness to make sacrifices to complete your goals. Without individuals of your quality, our companies would not be able to survive in the face of global competition”, said Minister Balaš at the beginning of the ceremony.
Dominik Hrebík, a structural biologist, is a graduate of the Master’s and Doctoral study programme in Biochemistry at the Faculty of Science, Masaryk University. During his PhD studies, he worked in the laboratory of Pavel Plevka, where he gained experience in the field of cryo-electron microscopy and virology. He is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of John Briggs at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Munich, Germany.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has been presenting the Medals for Outstanding Students and Graduates in a Study Program and Extraordinary Deeds of Students’ in its current form since 2014. The award can be presented to a student or graduate of a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral study program for exceptional results in studies or in scientific, research, development, artistic or other creative activities related to the study. The award is also given for an extraordinary act demonstrating civic bravery, responsibility or dedication.
