Do you know what face mask strap are?

The Department of Information and Communication Technologies (OIKT) and the Department of Anthropology (Faculty of Science MU), together with the Institute of Computer Science MU, the Faculty of Philosophy MU and other organisations, have been involved in the 3D printing of face mask straps. These are the plastic holders that prevent abrasion and swelling behind the ears of paramedics, who are forced to wear protective equipment covering the mouth and nose for long periods.

Under the banner of the voluntary organisation MUNI Helps, a total of 3,300 of these straps have been produced. “At our faculty, we produced around 700 face mask straps , using 690 m of filament. The printing itself lasted over 294 hours”, said Jiří Ledvinka from OIKT, adding that “the printed face mask straps were handed over to health professionals in the South Moravian Region”.

Thank you for helping to fight the insidious covid-19 pandemic and for helping to spread the good name of our university!
