Laboratory of Plant Molecular Biology
This new laboratory is dedicated to the study of plants, focusing on the molecular mechanisms of plant cell function, organization, signal transduction and regulation of plant growth and development. The results of the laboratory will be used primarily in basic research, but will also have application potential, especially in the field of producing plants more resistant to changing environmental conditions, thus contributing to improving the sustainability of agricultural production and thus the quality of life. The laboratory is also involved in providing theoretical teaching and practical activities for students. The lectures explain the principles of the life functions of the plant cell and the physiological processes of the whole plant at the molecular and cellular level. In specialised exercises, students can experience the basic scientific methods used in molecular biology and modern plant research, including the preparation of genetically modified organisms, including plants, and their further use in practice, as well as the latest techniques for imaging cellular processes in living cells, such as confocal microscopy.
