Medium 5: TOMATO JUICE AGAR

    Peptone                         10 g 
    Casein peptone, tryptic digest  10 g 
    Tomato juice*              	   400 ml
    Agar                            20 g 
    Distilled water                600 ml 
 
Dissolve the solids in water by heating. Add 
tomato juice, mix, and sterilize at 121°C for 20 
min. The final pH value of the medium should be 
6.0 - 6.2.
 
     *Tomato juice:
     Tomatoes                       250 g
     Distilled water                500 ml
 
Cut up tomatoes and steam in water for an hour or 
until they are pulped. Clarify through gauze and 
filter through paper.
